Data Protection Law

The particular importance of data protection

The purpose of data protection law is to protect people’s privacy and informational self-determination. In principle, everyone should be the “master” of their personal data. To ensure this, your activities have to comply with the main principles of data protection: Data minimization and data avoidance, checking the necessity and determining the purpose of data collection.

In accordance with the data protection laws, public bodies as well as companies are subject to special data protection obligations. Violations of data protection laws are punishable by high fines or– in particularly serious cases – even imprisonment.
